Josef | Ze Cobra | Wins Bronze Medal At 2011 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships!
by Administrator on Jun.19, 2011, under Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
After an amazing performance in the adult light feather weight division of the New York International Open, Prof. Josef Manuel headed out to Long Beach, California chasing his dream of winning the most prestigious title in the world of grappling, the World Championships of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. This was Josef’s first time competing as a black belt in the adult division of the (Galo) rooster weight category. On Saturday in the preliminaries, Josef advanced against Mokoto Sawada, to face Joseph Capizzi in the quarter finals, & with technical precision Professor Manuel passed Cappiziās guard, winning with a score of 3-0. He then advanced to the semi-finals to face the defending rooster weight world champion, Bruno Malfacine. Abandoning the strategy of trying to win by points or advantages, Prof. Manuel went head-to-head with Malfacine, in a ten minute exchange of submissions and positions, losing by points as time ran out. In the end after an amazing run, Prof. Manuel came home from the 2011 Worlds in Long Beach California with a bronze medal around his neck. We are proud of our instructor who stood on the podium of the elite, proving that his Jiu-Jitsu ranks up there amongst the best in the world. Parabens Professor!
